すくも藍

　藍を用いた染色の基本は浸染である。均一に濃い色で染める場合は浸染でなければならない。今回、実験的に引き染を試みた。ムラにはなりやすく、薄い色の仕上がりにはなるが、浸染とは違った染め上りの風合いが楽しめる。ただし、手早く染めるという技術が必要である。

         The basic style of indigo dyeing is immersion dyeing. In the case when an even and stronger color is needed, this technique should be used. This time, I experimentally applied this dye with brush dyeing techniques. Irregularities commonly appeared, and the finished color was light; however, it  produces a different texture from immersion dyeing, although the quick-dyeing technique certainly has its place.
